Sports and ActivitiesSt. Bernadette offers an extra-curricular Parish Sports Program for girls and boys in grades 5-8. Since these programs are self supporting, a small fee is charged for each sport in which an athlete participates. Parents must attend the introduction meeting of each sport in order for their child to participate during the year. Students in grades 5, 7, & 8 must have a sports physical on file with the school to participate in the athletic program. All parents will be required to provide proof of medical insurance for each student participating. ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for sports, students must keep up with their academic studies as well as maintain good conduct in school. No student is to be denied participation in sport indiscriminately. However, one important element for participation is keeping up with the student’s studies. Eligibility is determined on Friday afternoons for the following week. Eligibility runs from Saturday to Friday. Students must be passing all classes (no F’s) to be eligible for athletic participation for the week. Eligibility will not be changed during the middle of the week even if the grade changes. Eligibility for tournaments may be taken on alternate days if deemed necessary. In addition, students will be ineligible if they have 15 or more demerits. Students will be notified of eligibility status on Friday afternoons or when the demerit limit has been reached. Students who are deemed ineligible must attend all practices and may still practice until they are eligible. Students must also attend all games and should be dressed per the school dress code for dress up days (no exceptions, no jeans).
